Ankita Bhakat is an Indian archer who is competing in the Paris Olympics 2024. Born in Kolkata, she made headlines in 2017 when she won the gold medal at the World Archery Youth Championships in Rosario, Argentina. This will be her first Olympic tournament, and she has a good chance of ending India’s medal drought in archery. Notably, she finished in the top eight of the tournament after defeating Gabrielle Monica Bidaure of the Philippines 6-0 (26-23, 28-22, 28-23).

Ankita Bhakat’s love for archery began when she was 10 years old, and from there, she never looked back. In 2014, she moved to Jamshedpur, where she trained at the Tata Archery Academy under coaches Ram Awdesh, Purnima Mahato, and Dharmendra Tiwari.
In 2015, Ankita Bhakat passed the selection trials conducted by the Archery Association of India (AAI) and participated in the World Archery Youth Championships in Yankton, South Dakota. She also won the bronze medal in the women’s team recurve event at the Asian Games in 2023 in Hangzhou.
