Vinesh Phogat’s redemption is one to be remembered for a lifetime. After being knocked out in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics, she has stormed into the semifinals of the Paris Olympics 2024 with remarkable wins against World No. 1 Yui Susaki and Ukraine’s Oksana Livach.
Vinesh shocked the top seed, securing a 3-2 victory in the last five seconds of the match, handing Susaki her first defeat of her international career. Just 45 minutes later, Vinesh overcame Livach 7-5 in her quarterfinal.
Now, she will face Yusneylis Guzman Lopez from Cuba in the semifinals. A win will secure her a silver medal, while a loss will send her to the bronze medal match.
