India’s hopes for a seventh medal at the Paris Olympics have been dashed. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s appeal for a shared silver medal. The decision was announced on Wednesday, August 14th, upholding the International Olympic Committee’s original ruling. Known for its strict adherence to sports regulations, the CAS denied Phogat’s request.
This ruling is a disappointment for Indian sports fans and Phogat herself, who had hoped to secure the medal through her appeal.
