Vinesh Phogat was welcomed by a huge crowd of fans who danced in joy despite the wrestler getting disqualified for being being overweight.
Despite her appeal to the CAS, the ruling came against Vinesh Phogat that she won’t get a joint Silver medal. The Indian wrestler was found 100 gm overweight on the morning of her finals bout. As a result she was disqualified.
Grand Welcome for Vinesh Phogat
Vinesh Phogat was drawn to tears after seeing the reception that she received from her countrymen. Following her disqualification, Vinesh Phogat announced her retirement from the sport. Furthermore, she and her legal team appealed to the CAS to grant her the chance to get the silver medal.
But her appeal was rejected. Nonetheless, Vinesh’s crowd from her village has prepared 750kgs of ladoos for her welcome. A highly emotional Vinesh blurted out,“I thank all the countrymen, I am very fortunate,” after seeing the reception that she has got after her return to the country,
