The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) is all set to deliver its verdict on Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s appeal against her disqualification from the Paris Olympics. After winning her semifinal bout on July 6 against Cuba’s Yusneylys Guzmán, the pugilist wasn’t allowed to compete in the gold medal match in the 50kgs category after she missed her weight by just 100 grams early in the day on July 7.
This meant that it was the end of the road in the Games for Phogat in the most tragic fashion, shattering her medal dreams. The CAS is expected to deliver the verdict on the appeal today.
