There Indian doubles players seem to be doing well at the US Open 2024, with their respective teams. Veteran Rohan Bopanna progressed, both in the men’s doubles and mixed doubles events on Saturday. In the mixed doubles, with his Indonesian partner Aldila Sutjiadi, he beat the team of Demi Schuurs and Tim Putz 7-6 (7), 7-6 (5). Whereas in the men’s doubles encounter, the Bopanna-Matthew Ebden pair overcame Roberto Carballés Baena and Federico Coria 6-2, 6-4 to seal their spot in the pre-quarters.
Another Indian, Yuki Bhambri also qualified for the next round with a second round victory with his partner Albano Olivetti. The duo beat Austin Krajicek and Jean-Julien Rojer by 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, to make it to the next round. But it was curtains for Olympian N Sriram Balaji, who lost his second round match with Argentinian partner Guido Andreozzi. They lost to Michael Venus and Neal Skupski in straight sets by 6(4)-7, 4-6.

Rohan Bopanna & Yuki Bhambri Progress in US Open
Now, in mixed doubles Bopanna-Aldila will face John Peers and Katerina Siniakova in the next round, and in men’s doubles Bopanna-Ebden will be up against Argentinian pair of Andres Molteni and Maximo Gonzalez. The opponents for Yuki and his partner are not decided as yet.
Earlier, India’s lone entrant in the men’s singles competition at the US Open, Sumit Nagal had crashed out in the first round itself after he lost to Tallon Griekspoor in straight sets 1-6, 3-6, 6-7.
