US Open 2023: Schedule, Top seeds, Draws, Check All you need to know

The US Open Badminton is set to return after a three-year hiatus. The tournament will get underway from 11th July 2023, Tuesday. The final is scheduled on 16th July, Sunday.

US Open 2023: The US Open Badminton is set to return after a three-year hiatus. The last edition of the tournament was played way back in 2019. This will be the second tournament in North America this year after the Canada Open. Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn and Ratchanok Intanon are the top seeds in the Men’s and Women’s Singles. Indians Lakshya Sen and PV Sindhu will be in action in the tournament. The tournament will get underway from 11th July 2023, Tuesday. The final is scheduled on 16th July, Sunday.

Men’s Singles

Fresh after winning the Canada Open, Lakshya Sen enters the US Open as one of the favourites. The Indian is the third seed in the tournament. He is in the third quarter of the draws. He will be facing Finland’s Kalie Koljonen in the first round. The third seed is set to face either Jan Louda or Arnaud Merkle in the second round. Apart from Lakshya, the only other seeded player is Nhat Nguyen, who is the eighth seed.

Sai Praneeth is the only other Indian in the Men’s Singles. He is in the final quarter. The unseeded Indian will face Li Shi Feng in the first round. Li Shi Feng recently finished as runner-up at the Canada Open. The other seeded player in the draw is Canada’s Weng Hong Yang.

Women’s Singles

Third seed PV Sindhu will begin her campaign at the US Open against a qualifier. Having reached the semifinal at the Canada Open last week, she is aiming to improve her performance at the US Open. Chinese Taipei’s Hsu Wen Chi, who is the fifth seed is the only other seeded player in the quarter.

Ruthvika Shivani Gadde will also be in action. The unseeded Indian will begin her campaign against Lin Hsiang-ti of Chinese Taipei. She is in a quarter that has sixth seeded Supanida Katethong.

Men’s Doubles

India’s Krishnaprasad Garaga and Vishuvardhan Goud Panjala are the fifth seeded pair in the tournament. They will begin their campaign in the tournament by facing Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yu-chieh and Si Li-wei. They are likely to face top seeded Su Ching-heng and Ye Hong-wei in the quarterfinal.

Women’s Singles

Apeksha Nayak and Ramya Venkatesh will be in action in the Women’s Singles. They will be facing Jeslyn Chow and Eliana Zhang in the first round. If they advance to the second round, they will face top seed Maiken Fruerggaard and Sara Thygesen in the second round.

Rituparna Panda and Swethaparna Panda will be the other Indian pair in action. They will get their campaign underway by facing Jackie Dent and Crystal Lai in the first round.
