The men’s and women’s singles entry lists for the 2022 US Open have been released by the USTA today based on the ATP and WTA rankings for the week of July 18. Djokovic’s name appears even as his participation remains in doubt due to his vaccination stance.

The initial entry cutoff for women’s singles was No. 99, while the men’s cutoff was No. 101. The United States currently leads all nations with 15 women and 13 men earning direct entry.
Top 10 players Jessica Pegula and Danielle Collins are the highest-ranking American women in the field at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. Iga Swiatek is the top seed at the tournament having topped the WTA Rankings, while Anett Kontaveit and Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur headline the entry list. Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina enters after rising to No.23 in the rankings.
Two of the 15 American women, Serena Williams and Taylor Townsend, have entered with special rankings: 23-time Grand Slam champion Williams has entered with a protected ranking of No. 16, while Townsend has entered with a protected ranking of No. 84.

While Novak Djokovic’s presence dominates the entry list, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev, the top 2 ranked players return for the US Open. Medvedev was banned from Wimbledon following the Russia-Ukraine crisis, while Zverev missed out with an injury.
Rafael Nadal is also present in entry list, but Roger Federer was out having fallen out of the ranking points. The American men are led by No. 13 Taylor Fritz and No. 17 Reilly Opelka, with three more Americans among the first four alternates.

The 2022 US Open main draw runs Monday, Aug. 29, to Sunday, Sept. 11, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. Fan Week, which features the US Open Qualifying Tournament, begins on Tuesday, Aug. 23.
Per the ITF Grand Slam rulebook, all eligible players are automatically entered into the men’s and women’s singles main-draw fields based on ranking 42 days prior to the first Monday of the event. The US Open does not have a vaccination mandate in place for players, but it will respect the U.S. government’s position regarding travel into the country for unvaccinated non-U.S. citizens.
