US Open 2022 Draws – US Open FULL Draws: The final Grand Slam tournament of the year, the US Open is all set to begin on 29th August 2022. The draws for the main round of the tournament has been released on Thursday. World No.1 Daniil Medvedev and Rafael Nadal leads the Men’s singles draw, while World No 1 Iga Swiatek is leading the women’s singles draw. Follow US Open LIVE updates on InsideSport.IN

US Open 2022 Draws: US Open draws to be released soon, Daniil Medvedev and Rafael Nadal to be top two seeds, Iga Swiatek to lead women’s draw – Follow LIVE updates

Former World No.1 Novak Djokovic will not be competing in the year end Grand Slam as he will not be allowed to enter USA without vaccination. World No.2 Alexander Zverev will also miss it as he is recovering from an ankle injury he sustained during the last year. Daniil Medvedev is likely to face fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinal of the tournament. While Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz are in the same half of the draws.

First Quarter

Daniil Medvedev leads the first quarter of the draws. The defending champion and World No.1 begins his campaign by facing America’s Stefan Kozlov in the first round. He is likely to face Nick Kyrgios in the fourth round of the draws. Nick Kyrgios is the 23rd seed and the Australian faces compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis in the first round.

Sixth seed Felix Auger Aliassime is the next top seed in this quarter after Medvedev and he begins his campaign against a qualifier. 12th seed Pablo Carreno Busta is also in this quarter and he faces Dominic Thiem in a blockbuster first round. Roberto Bautista Agut finds himself in this quarter and he faces USA’s wildcard entrant JJ Wolf in the first round.

Second Quarter

Stefanos Tsitsipas, who is the fourth seed leads the second quarter of the draws. The Greek will begin his campaign against a qualifier in the first round. Fifth seed Casper Ruud is the next big seed in this quarter and he will face England’s Kyle Edmund in the first round. He is likely to face Taylor Fritz in the fourth round. 10th seed Fritz will begin his campaign against a qualifier.

2021 Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini is the 13th seed and he is also present in this quarter. He begins his campaign against Hugo Dellien. Berrettini is likely to the competitor in the fourth round for Stefanos Tsitsipas. Andy Murray faces challenge from 24th seed Francizco Cerundolo on the opening round.

Third Quarter

Carlos Alcaraz finds himself as the third seed for the first time in his career at a Grand Slam event and he begins his campaign by facing Sebastian Baez in the first round. Jannik Sinner, who beat the Spaniard  in the fourth round at the Wimbledon is likely to be his opponent in the quarterfinal of the contest as both the youngsters are in the same quarter. Sinner will begin his campaign by facing Daniel Altmaier. Sinner is likely to set up clash with 8th seed Hubert Hurkacz in the fourth round. Hurkacz will face Oliver Otte in the first round.

15th seed Marin Cilic is the next seeded player in this quarter. The Croat faces a qualifier in the first round and he is likely to meet Albert Ramos Vinolas in the second round. Borna Coric who won the Cincinnati Masters title recently is the 25th seed and he is also in the same quarter.

Fourth Quarter

Second seed Rafael Nadal leads the final quarter of the draws. Nadal will be playing against wildcard entrant Rinky Hijikata in the first round. Nadal will face either Fabio Fognini or Aslan Karatsev in the second round. Seventh seed Cameron Norrie and ninth seed Andrey Rublev will be Nadal’s competitors in the draws. Seventh seed Norrie will be in action against Benoit Paire in the first round, meanwhile Rublev will begin his campaign by facing Laslo Djere. 14th seed Diego Schwartzman, 19th seed Denis Shapovalov are all part of this quarter.

  • 1. Iga Swiatek
  • 2. Anett Kontaveit

First Quarter

Iga Swiatek leads the Women’s singles draw and the top seed is in the first quarter. She will open the campaign by playing against Jasmine Paolini in the first round of the qualifiers. Swiatek is likely to face former US Open champion Sloane Stephens in the second round of the draws. Eighth seed Jessica Pegula is the next top seed in the draws and she faces qualifier in the first round. 9th seed Garbine Muguruza is also in the same quarter and she takes on Denmark’s Clara Tauson in the first round. 16th seed Jelena Ostapenko is also part of this quarter and the Latvian will face the unseeded Qinwen Zheng in the first round.

Second Quarter

The second quarter of the draws is led by fourth seed Paula Badosa. She faces Lesia Tsurenko in the first round of the tournament. Sixth seed Aryna Sabalenka is the next big seed in this quarter she will face a qualifier in the first round. She is likely to play against defending champion Emma Raducanu in the fourth round of the tournament. Raducanu will have a tough first round as she will face Alize Cornet.

This year’s Australian Open finalist Dannielle Collins is the 19th seed and she will face Naomi Osaka in the first round. Reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina is also part of this quarter and she will face a qualifier in the first round.

Third Quarter 

Third seed Maria Sakkari leads the third quarter and she will be up against Tatjana Maria in the opening round of the tournament. Simona Halep, who is the seventh seed is the next big seed in this quarter and she will be up against a qualifier in the first round. Halep is expected to face 12th seed Coco Gauff in the fourth round. Gauff too will begin her campaign against a qualifier. Beatriz Haddad Maia and Cincinnati Masters winner Caroline Garcia also find themselves in this quarter.

Fourth quarter 

Second seed Anett Kontaveit finds herself in this quarter of the draws. Kontaveit will face Jaqueline Cristian in the first round of the tournament. All eyes will however be on Serena Williams who will be bidding farewell after the Grand Slam. She will begin her campaign by facing Montenegro’s Danka Kovinic in the first round. If Serena wins this contest she will fce second seed Anett Kontaveit in the second round. Ons Jabeur, who is the fifth seed is also part of this quarter. Jabeur will face USA’s Madison Brengle in the first round. 14th seed Leylah Fernandez, who finished as the runner-up last year will begin the campaign against Oceane Dodin in the first round.

When will the US Open begin? 

The main round of the tournament is scheduled to begin from 28th August 2022.
