US Open 2021: Alexander Zverev makes it to Round 4, after Jack Sock withdraws- Olympic gold medallist Alexander Zverev sealed progression into the round of 16 of the ongoing US Open 2021. Zverev was down a set against resurgent American Jack Sock in the third round in Arthur Ashe Stadium but did well to bounce back to go 2-1 up, before Jack Sock withdrew after being pegged by a niggling injury. The German eventually sealed the clash with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, 2-1 (ret.) and will face off against Italy’s Jannik Sinner in round 4.

Alexander Zverev has had a good start to his US Open 2021 campaign, with wins over Sam Querry and Albert Ramos-Vinolas in straight sets. The World No.4 is on a 13-game win streak and has been in fine form with back to back title wins at the Tokyo Olympics and Cincinnati. Zverev had made it to the US Open final last year, and will be aiming to lift it this time around.

As for Jack Sock, world No.184 will be aiming to pull off a huge upset and will take inspiration for Carlos Garfia who defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in round 3. Sock sealed a five-set win over 31st seed Alexander Bublik, showcasing his skills and advancing to the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time since the 2017 Australian Open. The American ace is rejuvenated, but Zverev will back himself to make light work of his opponent in New York on Sunday.
