Fresh off his knockout win over Errol Spence Jr, ‘Bud’ Crawford is 40-0 as a professional and the undisputed welterweight champion of the world.
He has been an undisputed champion in two categories now- 140 lbs and 147 lbs. That said, Shakur Stevenson has enough reasons to back him up against the current undisputed super middleweight champion- Alvarez.
In a chat with IFL TV, ‘Fearless’ said, “I don’t think size wins fights, I think skills do. Southpaw, good movement, sharp boxing. It would be hard for Canelo to walk him [Terence Crawford] down and load up on big hooks. I think Bud would beat Canelo.”
Terence Crawford has desired to face Jermell Charlo next, who is already scheduled to face Canelo Alvarez on September 30.
As for Crawford’s style against Canelo, the Mexican star has struggled against southpaws like Erislandy Lara in the past. Moreover, Canelo has two pro losses against Floyd Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol, unlike the unbeaten Crawford.
A clash against Terence Crawford wouldn’t be easy for any boxer. But Canelo and Crawford are still far away from each other’s radar.
Crawford proved his worth in a high-profile clash against Spence Jr. last weekend. It remains to be seen how Canelo Alvarez performs against Jermell Charlo next month.

Canelo is still the bigger PPV star than Terence Crawford on any given day. Facing the Mexican would assure another lucrative payday for ‘Bud’, possibly the biggest pay-check of his career.
However, Terence Crawford is not interested in locking horns with the undisputed 168 lbs titlist. In a chat with TMZ, ‘Bud’ made it very clear.
He said, “No, not at all [interested in boxing Canelo Alvarez]. Like I said before. I have got that question [of fighting Canelo] many times before. I have said it and I’mma say it now. Canelo is 2-weight class, 3-weight class, 4-weight class above me.”
Crawford has made over $20 million from his recent fight and has become an even bigger star after knocking out ‘The Truth’. His next fight would clearly be intriguing for the fans.
