Statement from Club Owner Roman Abramovich: During my nearly 20-year ownership of Chelsea FC, I have always viewed my role as a custodian of the Club, whose job it is ensuring that we are as successful as we can be today, as well as build for the future, while also playing a positive role in our communities. I have always taken decisions with the Club’s best interest at heart. I remain committed to these values. That is why I am today giving trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation the stewardship and care of Chelsea FC. I believe that currently they are in the best position to look after the interests of the Club, players, staff, and fans.

Ukraine-Russia Conflict: Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich put under radar after being linked to Russian state and ‘corrupt activity’ – How will Chelsea be affected?

If Roman Abramovich is somehow removed as the Chelsea owner, Chelsea could find themselves in a very tough spot as they have seen a lot of success in the past years and more importantly under their new manager Thomas Tuchel. To recover from Abramovich’s removal will put Chelsea in a tough spot as they would have to seek new investors and board members.

Chelsea have won the Premier League five times since Abramovich took over while having won the Community Shield twice and the FA Cup five times. Most importantly having won the Champions League twice as well as the Europa League. Chelsea might take years to recover from a new management and board members and therefore is Roman Abramovich is asked to step down it will a loss for Chelsea as a whole.
