The Indian women’s wrestlers continued their superlative effort at the U20 World Wrestling Championships in Pontevedra, Spain, on Friday, as they managed to add two additional medal in their kitty. First Nitika won a silver medal, and then Neha followed it up with a bronze medal. So that means, the Indian women’s contingent has ended the proceedings with five medals — 1 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze medals.
Although there were high hopes from Nitika, to bring country’s second gold at the U20 World Wrestling Championships, but that was not to be. She lost 1-4 to Ukraine’s Iryna Bondar in the women’s 62 kg category. Meanwhile, it was Neha Sangwan, was the other wrestler, who had managed to secure a bronze in the women’s 57 kg category.

What is important to note is, Neha, 17, had won the gold medal in the U1-7 category in August only, in Jordan. There were a few misses as well, and Sarika could not land a medal in the 65 kg, and same was the case with 53 kg. Now, there is another chance for India to seal a few more medals as the competition moves to the men’s freestyle category.
