Former American tennis star John McEnroe called the idea of playing the WTA finals in Saudi Arabia as laughable, flagging the treatment meted out to women in the country. As per ESPN, McEnroe expressed disagreement over the thought of Saudi launching a tour for tennis, similar to what they did for golf.

“Personally, I disagree with it completely, with the golf & the tennis. The ladies are going to play the WTA Finals there? Are you kidding me? Because they treat women so well? That part is to me laughable,” McEnroe said.

He added that he wouldn’t be shocked with reports of Saudi Arabia possibly buying the Miami Open and the Madrid Open.
“It wouldn’t shock me. Let’s put it this way… money talks. ‘Oh, no, I wouldn’t do that. How much was I offered? On second thought maybe I will do that.’”
