This year, Tokyo Paralympics 2021 will witness Badminton and Taekwondo making their debut along with the regular sports. Here’s a look at the entire schedule of the event and Indian athletes taking part in the Paralympics.
In the 2016 Rio Olympics, 19 Indian para-athletes featured in the event across five sports clinching two Gold, one Silver, and one Bronze medal.
Indian athletes have appeared in every edition of the SummerParalympics since 1984 made though they made their official debut at the 1968 Summer Paralympics.
When will the Tokyo Paralympics begin?
The last time Paralympic games were held in Japan was way back in the year 1964 and so the organizers will be keen to make the event more successful with COVID-19 measures in place.
The upcoming Paralympic Games is set to begin on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, and will be completed on Sunday, September 5, 2021.

“Around Rs. 26 crores have been spent for the para-sports in the current Olympic cycle. A total of Rs. 6.1 crores have been spent under TOPS on the current core athletes in form of support towards foreign exposure, equipment, sports science services, coaching and out-of-pocket allowance,” read a document accessed by ANI.
