Tokyo Olympics: Vinesh Phogat reiterates, ‘Is It A Crime To Ask For Physiotherapist’- India wrestler Vinesh Phogat on Thursday shared a tweet expressing the need for a physiotherapist for Tokyo Games. In a tweet post, she lashed out at media reports asking whether it is a crime to request a physiotherapist, stating that the demand was put in place long ago.
“Is it a crime to ask for one Physiotherapist for four women wrestlers when there are instances of one athlete having multiple coaches/ Staff? Where is the balance? We have asked for a Physio long back and not at the last moment as reported,” where she tagged PM Modi, IOA, and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur.
Phogat will play her opening match on August 5. She will compete in the women’s freestyle 53 kg category.

In Rio Olympics, Phogat was carried off the mat after suffering a knee injury in the quarter-finals. She made an impressive return by winning Commonwealth Games and Asian Games in 2018 after her return post 5 months of rehabilitation. She had also finished third at the 2019 World Championships.
She is in red-hot form ahead of the Tokyo Games after winning all competitions including a gold medal at Asian Championships.
“It is difficult, but if you have to perform as an athlete at the top level then one has to be mentally strong,” Phogat had told PM Modi earlier this month, adding, “Family has a big role to play to push you to that next level. The federation and everybody have worked together, so I believe it’s our duty not to disappoint them.”
