The World No.15 was expected to make it past the group stages having been ranked with opponents with a lesser ranking, but World No. 47 Misha Zilberman of Israel pulled off a stunning upset, beating Praneeth 21-17, 21-15. The Indian shuttler was no match for Zilberman, which eventually sealed his fate.
