The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Organising Committee has revealed the discounted tickets prices. The cheapest ticket for the Tokyo Games will cost $18.
The Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020 will be affordable for the fans as the organizing committee has agreed on a ticket sale price of ¥2,020, ($18). As the Olympic Games in Tokyo are scheduled for 2020, the cheapest tickets have been kept at 2,020 Yens to mark the year of the multi-sport quadrennial event.
According to the committee’s decision, the low-cost tickets, for preliminary-round events as well as for the opening and closing ceremonies, will be available for groups including children, senior citizens and people with disabilities, with the criteria for purchase to be decided at a later date.
Even cheaper tickets will be sold for Paralympic events as part of the organizers’ efforts to make the games affordable.
At London 2012 Games, a similar initiative was launched when tickets made available for £20.12 (€22.81/$26.67).
“We hope that a diverse audience enjoys the Olympics and fans generate a frenzied atmosphere in the stadium,” said Sadahiko Kano, who heads the ticketing strategy panel.
The organizers will announce the basic outline of ticket prices on July 20, two days after gaining approval at the International Olympic Committee board of directors meeting.
Tickets are scheduled to go on sale in the spring of 2019. The organising committee has taken the decision ahead of the announcement of the basic outline of ticket prices on July 20.
