Three Indian trap shooters miss out on Paris 2024 quotas narrowly at ISSF World Cup

ISSF World Cup: So far, through various competitions, 19 shooters have gotten Olympic quotas for India.

In an unfortunate turn of event, three Indian trap shooters missed out on Paris 2024 Olympic qualification mark, by a narrow margin of one point, at the ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Rabat, Morocco. One more point, and the likes of Bhowneesh Mendiratta, Zoravar Sandhu, and Rajeshwari Kumari would have made it to the final six of their respective events, giving them a shot at Paris qualification.

But in the men’s category, both Mendiratta, and Zoravar ended with 118 points, while the shoot-off mark for the sixth spot was 119. In the women’s category, Rajeshwari shot 113, while the last final spot went at 114, as per the NRAI.

That meant, that all the Indians in the fray, bowed out of the competition, without winning a medal as well. Bhavya Tripathi (109) finished 17th while Manish Keer (106) was 22nd. In the men’s section, Prithviraj Tondaiman, the third Indian in the fray, ended 57th with a score of 114.

Manavjit Denied Too

About a month back, at the Asian Shotgun Championships, seasoned India pro Manavjit Singh Sandhu had claimed that he was refused to use his regular gun at the tournament. The Olympian, as per Rev Sportz, claimed that it was a vendetta by the tournament director Abdullah Hamadi against him.

“I have shot with this same gun and the same stock for several years at World Cups, the Olympics and more events. This is a vendetta against India and me by the tournament director Abdullah Hamadi,” Manavjit told RevSportz.
