Rafael Nadal Injury Update: Rafael Nadal’s injury recovery period has extended even further. After missing out ongoing Monte Carlo Open 2023, the former World No.1 has announced that he will be pulling out of the Barcelona Open 2023 as well. The 22-time Grand Slam champion last featured in the Australian Open 2023 earlier this year. During his short stay and 2nd round exit, he suffered a hip flexor injury that has forced his to stay out of his favorite surface. Follow Barcelona Open LIVE updates on InsideSport.IN

Rafael Nadal Injury Update: Rafa out of Barcelona Open

In a tweet, Nadal announced that he is still not prepared for his return to the tournament and therefore will pull out in advance.

Nadal said, “Barcelona is a special tournament for me, because it is my adopted club and because playing at home is always a unique feeling. I am still not ready and, therefore, I continue my preparation process for the return to competition.”

Nadal also wished good luck to former Spanish player and friend David Ferrer. He wished Ferrer and entire Barcelona team success at all level in terms of managing the tournament.

Nadal has been inflicted with injuries throughout his career but with progressing age is having difficulty in bouncing back like he used to. Novak Djokovic his biggest rival is tied with him at 22 Grand Slams and is fit as a fiddle for the ongoing clay swing. Nadal now has only two tournaments left for his preparation for Roland Garros. He would now hope to make his comeback at the Mutua Madrid Open 2023 which starts from 26th April. If Nadal isn’t able to play in Madrid, his last resort would be Rome Masters which starts about 2o days before French Open 2023.
