In the first set, Djokovic broke Andujar’s serve four times and did not face a break point to achieve a bagel set and ran through his Spaniard opponent at the indoor hard court. Andujar could never get a foothold in the contest against Djokovic as the Serbian was always a step ahead.
In the second set, Andujar could hold his first three service games but he soon ran out of steam as Djokovic soon found two successive breaks to win the second set 6-3 and sealed the contest in 1 hour and 40 minutes. Djokovic will next play Canadian Vasek Pospisil, who eliminated Israeli qualifier Edan Leshem 6-3, 6-2 behind nine aces and three service breaks.
This was Djokovic’s first match in Israel since 2006 and the 35-year-old looked at home on the indoor hard court, answering all of the questions Andujar posed without problem.
