The Indian women’s doubles pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnapaa have mathematically qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The duo made the cut at the last qualification tournament, at the Badminton Asia Championships in Ningbo, China, on Wednesday. That also means, the pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand are out of the race for Paris 2024 qualifications.
How Tanisha Crasto/Ashwini Ponnappa Qualified for Paris 2024
It wasn’t just about Tanisha and Ashwini, that saw them through, but a combination of events that happened at the Badminton Asia Championships. So, as things stood before the start of the tournament, as per Sportskeeda, if Tanisha and Ashwini made it to the second round, Treesa and Gayatri had to win the tournament.

The former got a bye in the first round, while Treesa and Gayatri lost their first round match against the Chinese pair of Lin/Tan 21-2, 21-11. That turn of events meant that the Ashwini and Tanisha went through.
Other Indians for Paris 2024
They are not the only players to make it to the Olympics. HS Prannoy, PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen have already made it to the Paris Games. In the men’s doubles there is Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty as well. Of course, the official entries will close on April 28, but these Indian players are all but through.
