Priyanshu Rajawat continued his winning streak as he entered the semifinal in the Syed Modi International 2023. Meanwhile seventh seeds Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto stunned fourth seeds Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopciand in the quarterfinal on Friday, 1st December.
Priyanshu Rajawat was thoroughly dominant in the contest against Indonesian qualifier Alwi Farhan. The Indian brushed aside the Junior World champion 21-15, 21-16 in a match that lasted 49 minutes.
World No.31 Rajawat has won all his matches in the tournament in straight games so far. He will next face Chinese Taipei’s Chi Yu-jen in the semifinal on Saturday.

Ashwini Ponnappa & Tanisha Crasto progress
In the Women’s Doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto sailed past higher-ranked opponents Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand.
Fourth seeds Treesa and Jolly entered the match as the favourites. However they were completely outplayed by their fellow compatriots. World No.32 Ponnappa and Crasto took only 35 minutes to wrap up the contest 21-19, 21-8.
Ashwini Ponnappa and Crasto only paired up earlier this season. They won the Nantes International Challenge and Abu Dhabi Masters Super 100 tournaments this season. They will next face top seeded Japanese pair Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota in the semifinal.
