Several players are unhappy with the conditions on offer at the Syed Modi India International Badminton tournament. The BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament has kickstarted on November 28. International players have complained about the poor court conditions at Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium, Lucknow.
On the eve of the tournament, several players complained about the poor conditions at the stadium. They posted pictures of bird droppings on the courts that hindered their training.
Danish men’s doubles player Frederik Soegard and Singapore’s Wei Han Jessica Tan, a posted the pictures of bird droppings. Jessica Tan also complained of the hall being foggy due to the dust. On Monday as well there were complaints of delayed start of the matches.
The ongoing season will end with the Syed Modi International. It is the 30th tournament in the BWF Tour this year. This is also the final tournament before the World Tour Finals. The Super 300 event will feature 204 players in five disciplines from across the world.

Lakshya Sen and Prannoy withdraw from Syed Modi International
HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen have withdrawn from the tournament. World No. 24 Kidambi Srikanth is now the top-ranked Indian in men’s singles draw. The Men’s draw will also feature B Sai Praneeth, Kiran George, Mithun Manjunath and Priyanshu Rajawat, who won the Orleans Masters Super 300 title this year.
In women’s singles, Malvika Bansod, Aakarshi Kashyap, Unnati Hooda, Anupama Upadhaya, Ashmita Chaliha, Tanya Hemanth, Tasnim Mir and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde are in the fray.
