Swiatek vs Jabeur in FINALS: Trailblazer Ons Jabeur one step from crowning achievement at 2022 US Open
France’s Caroline Garcia entered Thursday night’s semifinal tussle with Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur as the most in-form player at this year’s US Open. The 28-year-old was in pulsating form and had not dropped a set en route to her first career major semifinal. Before today’s match she had a winning streak of 13 matches.
It all came crashing down in a heartbeat on Friday, as Jabeur raced through the opening set in 23 minutes and never looked back as she sped to an imperious 6-1, 6-3 victory.
“It feels amazing,” Jabeur told the crowd, which was speckled with Tunisian flags, after her triumph. “After Wimbledon there was a lot of pressure on me and I’m really relieved that I could back up my results.”
