World No.1 Swiatek improved to 2-1 in Grand Slam semifinals; previously, she defeated Nadia Podoroska at this stage of Roland Garros in 2020 en route to her first major title, but lost to Danielle Collins at the Australian Open in January. She also extended her head-to-head lead over Kasatkina to 4-1, with all four victories coming this year. Across those 2022 matches, Swiatek has conceded only 14 games.
Swiatek now awaits the winner of the second semifinal between No.18 seed Coco Gauff and Martina Trevisan.
Swiatek drew first blood early in the contest as she broke Kasatkina early in the set to move 2-0 up. But Kasatkina had responded with aggressive intent to break Swiatek in the third game to trail 1-2. She also won her next service game to level 2-2.
