Sushil Kumar Bail: Sushil Kumar Murder Case: Two-time Olympic medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar has finally received bail. He has been in jail for the last six months for his involvement in the Sagar Dhankar murder case. The 23-year-old Greco-Roman wrestler succumbed to injuries following a clash between two groups at the Chhatrasal Stadium on May 4. After being on the run for three weeks, Sushil Kumar was finally arrested on May 21. He is currently under trial at Delhi High Court. On Friday, Sushil received interim bail, subjected to Rs 1 lakh personal bond. He will also have two policemen with him all the time for the next 7 days. Sushil received the relief due to his wife’s health condition and two children.
“Keeping in view the threat perception of the witnesses and also considering the safety and security of the accused himself at least two security personnel shall be present with him round the clock to keep vigil over the applicant/accused,” the court order read.

Sagar Dhankar Murder Case: Sushil Kumar was charged with the murder of Sagar Dhankar last month. A Delhi court on October 12 framed charges against the disgraced wrestler and 17 others in the Chhatrasal Stadium murder case.
Sushil along with others is allegedly assauled former junior national wrestling champion Sagar Dhankar and his friends. The violent brawl over property dispute resulted in grave injuries to Dhankar.
According to the police, Dhankar used to earlier live in the flat in Model Town which is owned by Kumar. The two wrestlers had an ongoing dispute over the rent of the flat which snowballed into a fatal brawl after the 23-year-old abused Kumar.
Dhankar later succumbed to injuries and, according to the post-mortem report, he died due to cerebral damage resulting from a blunt object impact. The Delhi Police had arrested the wrestler on May 23. The sportsman has been lodged in judicial custody since June 2, 2021.
The Police had charged him under IPC Sections 323, 120-B, 142, 148, and 149.
