Sriram Balaji rewarded for good French Open form, jumps 17 places to reach career-high 67 Doubles ranking

The Indian tennis player recently looked in great touch at the French Open. He reached the third round in the Doubles category of the tournament before losing to Bopanna-Ebden pair.

Indian Tennis player Sriram Balaji has been in fine form recently. The 34-year-old has been on a good run at the French Open recently. He has been rewarded for his good run of form. Balaji jumped 17 places in the latest ATP Doubles Rankings released on Monday to attain a career-high ranking of 67.

Balaji’s good French Open form

The Indian tennis player recently looked in great touch at the French Open. He reached the third round in the Doubles category of the tournament. Balaji and his Mexican partner Miguel Reyes-Varela defeated Reese Stalder-Sem Verbeek in round one and Dan Added-Theo Arribage in round two to advance to the third round. However, the Indo-Mexican pair eventually fell to Rohan Bopanna-Matthew Ebden in a crunch three-setter.

Bopanna chooses Balaji over Yuki Bhambri

Balaji’s form has led to Rohan Bopanna choosing him as the doubles partner in Paris Olympics 2024. Bopanna chose Balaji over the more-decorated Yuki Bhambri.

Bopanna, India’s top-ranked doubles player at world No 2, had the choice of selecting his partner as long as the player was ranked within the top 300 globally. The All India Tennis Association verified that Bopanna requested Balaji, who is ranked No 84 at that time in the world, to be paired with him via email to the national federation.
