Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, who missed the Monte Carlo Masters last week is expected to make his return in the tournament. First Quarter 

Carlos Alcaraz leads first quarter

Carlos Alcaraz is all set to return to the tour after missing the Monte Carlo Masters last week. The Spaniard is looking to defend his title at the Barcelona Open. He will begin his campaign in the tournament from the second round. Alcaraz’s first opponent in the tournament will either be Ilya Ivashka or Nuno Borges.

Fifth seed Frances Tiafoe is the next top seed in the quarter. The American will begin his campaign in the second round. He will meet either Alexander Bublik or Emil Ruusuvuori. 10th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and 13th seed Roberto Bautista Agut will be the other seeded players in the quarter.

Casper Ruud headlines second quarter

Casper Ruud will look to make a comeback after bowing out from the third round at the Monte Carlo Masters last week. He is eyeing hi secnd title this season after lifting the Estoril Open. The third seed will face McKenzie McDonald or Ben Shelton in the second round.

15th seed Francisco Cerundolo is likely to face Ruud in the third round. Cerundolo gets his campaign underway in the second round. He will either meet Francesco Passaro or Fernando Verdasco in his opening match. Sixth seed Karen Khachanov and 12th seed Dan Evans are also part of the quarter. Khachanov is likely to face either Nicolas Jarry or a qualifier in the second round. Dan Evans is likely to face Jaume Munar, who begins his campaign against a qualifier.

Jannik Sinner leads in the third quarter 

After his semifinal exit from the Monte Carlo Masters, Jannik Sinner leads the third quarter of the draws at Barcelona Open. The fourth seed is set to face Diego Schwartzman or China’s Wu Yibing in the second round. The second round is set to face challenge from Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka in the third round. Nishioka begins his campaign by facing the winner between David Goffin and Feliciano Lopez.

Seventh seed Cameron Norrie and Ninth seed Lorenzo Musetti are also part of the quarter. Like the Monte Carlo Masters quarterfinal, Sinner and Musetto has a chance to set up clash in the quarterfinal yet again. Musetti is set to face either Daniel Rincon or Jason Kubler in the second round. Meanwhile, Cameron Norrie will face a qualifier to kickstart his campaign in the tournament.

Stefanos Tsitsipas in final quarter 

After losing a chance to lift hat-trick of titles at the Monte Carlo Masters, Stefanos Tsitsipas is aiming to lift his first clay court title this season before the French Open. He is the second seed and he will face Pedro Cachin or Gijs Brouwer in the second round.

The next top seed in the quarter is eighth seed Alex de Minaur. Minaur suffered a second round defeat last week at the Monte Carlo. He is now likely to face Alexander Shevchenko in his first match at Barcelona. 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov is also in the quarter. He will face the winner between Albert Ramos Vinolas and Emilio Gomez.
