Lausanne Diamond League: Neeraj Chopra, who is currently recovering from a muscle strain is likely to return to action at the Lausanne leg of the Diamond League later this month. While there is no confirmation from the World No.1, the official website of the event has confirmed his return to the action tournament that is set to be held on June 30.
The official website of the Lausanne League has stated, “In Javelin, the Indian Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra will be challenged by the Czech Jakub Vadlejch and German Julian Weber.” It remains to be seen whether the 24-year old can get back to full fitness and return to action in the tournament.
Olympic Gold medallist Neeraj Chopra began his season this year at the Doha Diamond League. He took the World Lead in the league with a throw of 88.67m, capping off a brilliant start to the season.
He was set to feature at the FBK Games in Netherlands on June 4. However the 24-year old had to pull out of the tournament after sustaining a muscle strain during his training. He took to Twitter and announced that he will be pulling out of the FBK Games in the Netherlands and the subsequent Paavo Nurmi meet in Finland (June 13) as a precautionary measure.
Ahead of the Lausanne Diamond League, he also has a scheduled tournament at the Golden Spike Ostrava in the Czech Republic on June 27. An official announcement from Neeraj Chopra is awaited. T
The Indian has a very busy season ahead. Having won the silver at the World Championships last year, he is set to fight for gold in this year’s edition of the tournament that is set to be held from August 19-27 in Budapest, Hungary. Asian Games and the Diamond League Finals are the other major events later this year.
