Taipei Open Highlights: HS Prannoy loses to Angus Ng Ka Long in quarterfinal

HS Prannoy's campaign at the Taipei Open has come to an end. The World No.9 Indian suffered a 21-19, 21-8 loss against Hong Kong's Angus Ng Ka Long in the quarterfinal at the Super 300 event on Friday, 23rd June 2023.

Prannoy began the contest with a 5-2 lead. However Long soon manages to go past the Indian with four straight points. From then on both the shuttlers engaged in a tight game. Prannoy managed to enter the interval with a slender 11-9 lead.

The neck-to-neck battle continued. At 19-19, Long hit a body smash and got to the game point. Prannoy made a error by hitting outside the baseline as Long went on to win the first game.

Angus Ng Ka Long went on to dominate in the second game. He took five successive points and took a 7-2 lead. He managed to enter the interval with a five-point lead after a net-error from Prannoy.

Long continued to dominate as with eight successive points, he raced to a 20-8 lead. Prannoy then misjudges a leave at the baseline and Long went on to win the contest in straight games. With the victory, Angus Ng Ka Long has levelled 6-6 against Prannoy.
