Malaysia vs South Korea

In the contest between Malaysia and South Korea, in the Mixed Doubles, Malaysia’s Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei won the first game against world No. 5 Seo Seung-jae-Chae Yu-jung. But the Korean duo came back and won the netx two games 21-13 and 21-7.

Lee Zii Jia then gave Malaysia the first win. He defeated Jeon Hyeok-jin 21-11, 21-9. In the women’s singles, South Korea’s An Se-young defeated K.Letshanaa 21-10, 21-13.

Malaysia’s Men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik went down 12-21, 11-21 to Kim Won-ho-Na Sung-seung to give the Koreans the victory.

China vs Japan

In the opening Mixed Doubles tie, Japan’s Kyohei Yamashita and Naru Shinoya clinched an upset win against World No.1 pair Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping. The Japanese duo clinched a 26-24, 18-21, 24-22.

Shi Yu Qi then clinched a come-from-behind 13-21, 21-15, 21-17 win against Kodai Naraoka in the Men’s Singles to level the tie 1-1.

China’s Olympic women’s singles champion Chen Yufei then lost to Akane Yamaguchi in straight games.

China’s Men’s Doubles pair lost their first set 21-17 before claiming the second 21-19 against Japan’s Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi. The Japanese pair gave scare to China as they led 20-16 in the third set. However the Chinese pair made a dramatic turnaround to win the game. 22-20.

In the deciding Women’s Doubles, World No. 1 women’s pair Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan thrashed Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota in straight sets to seal the win.
