Priyanshu Rajawat started the contest with two successive points. But he soon conceded the early lead to Johannesen, who went ahead with a 5-2 lead. Rajawat foufght back and levelled the scores 5-5. Neck-to-neck battle between the players ensued and leading 9-8, Rajawat hit a backhand winner from close to the net to extend his lead. He soon clinched another point to enter the interval with the scores at 11-8.
Rajawat continued to outplay his opponent in the second half. He dominated with his attacking shots and went ahead with a 16-11 lead. Johannesen had no chance of making a comeback as the Indian won the first game 21-15.
In the second game, both the players fought tooth and nail. Johannesen managed to eke out a 6-4 lead early in the game. Rajawat made errors helping his opponent enter the interval with a 11-8 lead. After the interval, errors continued from Rajawat’s end as Johannesen took a 14-9 lead.

Another neck-to-neck battle followed. At 17-17, Rajawat made three successive errors and let his opponent get to the game point. Johannesen soon took the match into the decider by winning the second game 21-19.
In the decider, Rajawat came back with a 5-0 lead early. But Johannesen this time didn’t let the Indian run away with a big lead and levelled 9-9. Rajawat however maintained control and with two back-to-back points entered the interval with a lead.
In the second-half of the game, Rajawat started off with three straight points. Under-pressure Johannesen lost his way in the final stages as Rajawat gradually took a big 18-12 lead to inch closer to victory. He quickly got to the match point after Johannesen managed only to return a shot from him at the net.
Leading 20-13, the Indian helped his opponent save three match points as he hit successive wide shots. Rajawat finally got the winner with a cross-court smash and sealed the win.
