Sindhu sealed a 21-16, 21-11 win against Japan’s Aya Ohori in the second round on Thursday, 25th May 2023. Prannoy meanwhile defeated Li Shi Feng 13-21, 21-16, 21-11. Srikanth defeated Kunlavut Vitidsarn in straight games to clinch one of his biggest wins in his career. Lakshya Sen bowed out from the second round. HS Prannoy vs Li Shi Feng

After defeating Chou Tien Chen in the first round, Prannoy continued his impressive show as he clinched victory against China’s Li Shi Feng in the second round.

Li Shi Feng began the contest with a 6-2 lead. The Chinese went on to doiominate the contest and didn’t let Prannoy to take a lead throughout as he won the first game 21-13.

In the second game, Prannoy managed to take lead for the firts time in the contest after a wide shot from Shi Feng that took his scores to 4-3. Prannoy continued to capitalise on the lead as he entered the interval with him leading 11-7.

Li Shi Feng took four points on the trot soon after the interval to level the scores 11-11. Neck-to-neck battle ensued between both the players. However from 14-14, Prannoy took the next three successive points to take a 17-14 lead. The Indian then managed to take the contest into the decider by winning the game 21-16.

In the third game too Prannoy led right from the start as he entered the interval with a 11-5 lead. After the change of the ends too the Indian continued his impressive show as with five successive points he took a massive 16-5 lead. From then on, the contest went one-way as Prannoy won the game 21-11 and advanced to the quarterfinal. .

Kidambi Srikanth vs Kunlavut Vitidsarn

Kidambi Srikanth prevailed over India Open champion and eighth seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand. Coming into the match with a 0-3 head-to-head record, Srikanth notched up a 21-19, 21-19 win over Vitidsarn to make it to the quarterfinals.

The 2021 World Championships silver medallist will meet Indonesian qualifier Christian Adinata in the next match.

Lakshya Sen, however, lost to Angus Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong 14-21, 19-21 to end his Malaysia Masters campaign.

PV Sindhu vs Aya Ohori

Double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu comfortably got the better of Aya Ohori of Japan 21-16, 21-11 in 40 minutes in pre-quarters. After the win, she will next face China’s Zhang Yi Man for a spot in the semifinals.

Sindhu straightaway began the contest with a 4-0 lead. She comfortably maintained that big difference as she entered the interval with the score at 11-5. She then dominated the game as she took five successive points from 14-11 to take her lead to 19-11.

Ohori tried to make a comeback as she took the next four points to reduce the deficit to 15-19. However a net-error from Japanese gave Sindhu five game points. Ohori then hit a drop shot straight on the net helping Sindhu win the first game 21-16.

Sindhu began the second game by trailing 2-3. However the Indian fought back with six successive points to take a 8-3 lead. She soon entered the interval with a six-point lead. It was then an one-way traffic as Sindhu closed out the game 21-11 to clinch a straight game victory. HS
