BWF Rankings: Following her runner-up finish at the Madrid Masters much recently, Sindhu has made a comeback into the Top 10 of the World rankings. Sindhu dropped out of the Top 10 for the first time since 2016, following her second round exit at the Swiss Open two weeks back. She came back to form by reaching the final at the Madrid Masters in the subsequent week. Despite losing the final against Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Sindhu’s performance helped her climb up two spots and she is currently ranked World No.9. BWF Rankings: PV Sindhu back into Top 10 in latest BWF Ranking after runner-up finish at Madrid Masters, climbs two spots to go back to World No.9 – Check OutBefore the start of the Madrid Masters, Sindhu was ranked 11th in the world. It was the first time Sindhu dropped out of the Top 10 since 2016. She started the Super 300 tournament in Madrid with 60,448 points against her name.
She was the second seed in the tournament and began her campaign with straight game win against Jenjira Stadelmann. In the second round, Sindhu met Putri Kusuma Wardani. It was a repeat of the Swiss Open second round contest this year in which Sindhu lost the contest. The Indian however took revenge against Wardani by winning in straight games at Madrid.

With the victory, she entered the quarterfinal of a tournament for the first time in the BWF Tour this year. She went on to defeat Mia Blichfeldt and Yeo Jia Min to set up clash against fifth seed Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. While Sindhu was expected to dominate in the final, surprisingly the Indonesian hardly broke a sweat as she clinched the contest 21-8, 21-8 to win her first tour level title.
Despite the defeat, Sindhu’s efforts have now helped her go up two spots in the rankings. She now has 63,398 points against her name. Sindhu has opted out of Orleans Masters 2023 that is set to get underway from Monday, 4th April 2023. She will next be seen in action at the Sudirman Cup. The mixed team even is scheduled to be held from 14 to 21 May at Suzhou, China.
