Lakshya Sen made a shocking exit from the All England Championships. He lost 13-21, 15-21 agaist Anders Antonsen in the 51-minute men’s singles contest to Denmark’s Anders Antonsen.
With the loss, Lakshya is all set to drop down further after slipping to World No.19 in the rankings. This was another crucial week for the 21-year-old, who finished runner-up at last year’s All-England Open. However, Lakshya was unable to overcome Antonsen in the men’s singles.
In men’s singles, HS Prannoy lost to third seed Anthony Ginting in three games. Prannoy had enjoyed a 2-1 head-to-head advantage against the Indonesian. Kidambi Srikanth lost in straight games to seventh seed Kodai Naraoka. Last year’s finalist Lakshya Sen was defeated in straight games by Anders Antonsen.

In the men’s doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty crashed out after losing to the Chinese pairing of Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang. Liang Wei Keng & Wang Chang defeated Satwik-Chirag 21-10, 17-21, 19-21 despite the Indian duo’s domination in the first game.

Indian women’s doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand scripted a stunning win to progress to the quarterfinals, Commonwealth Games bronze medallists Treesa and Gayatri continued their rise as they shocked former world No. 1 pair of Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota 21-14, 24-22 in a pulsating contest.
The world no. 17 Indian pair, which had reached the semifinals of the last edition, will next face Chinese combination of Li Wen Mei and Liu Xuan Xuan.
