In her statement she said, “My 2022 season is over. 2022 you have been ab interesting year full of everything! See you on court, 2023! I feel I still have a lot to do on a Tennis court and still have some goals.” Eloborating further on her nose surgery she said that she had to go under the knife to improve her breathing. “Having problems with the breathing for many years already and becoming worse with the time, I decided to follow the advice of my doctors and do the needed surgery.”
She went on to explain that the surgery was also for cosmetic reasons. “I felt it is the right time to do it and also do something for myself as a person. That is why I did also the aesthetic part, that I wanted to do for a long time as I did not like my nose at all. So I did it, I solved the functional part and the aesthetic part. I know many of you can understand me.”
Halep last played in the US Open this year, where she was stunned in the first round by Ukranian qualifier Daroia Snigur, who defeated her in the first round in three sets. In her tweet she also mentioned that after her US Open loss, she realised that she was completely exhausted. She also revealed that at the start of the year, she was about to quit Tennis as she believed that she did not possess the power anymore to come back into the Top 10.

I was going through many anxious moments and I thought it is time to stop cause it is emotionally unhealthy,” she said. She however thanked her current coach Patrick Mouratoglou, with whom she joined hands after her anxiety and that worked wonders as she was able to get back to the Top 10. “Thanks to Patrick, I slowly started to believe that I can play a good level of Tennis.”
She however revealed that during her comeback she put pressure too much on herself which resulted in a panic-attack at Roland Garros, where she faced second round exit. “I always put pressure on myself and having the best coach next to me it felt even more pressure to win and do well. This ended up with the panic attack during my match in Paris.”
“After that I talked to Patrick nd told him I need to relax and asked him to be patient with me for the next six months. No expectations. He listened to me an after that I could play one of my best Tennis and faster than I ever expected, in only 2 months, I was back to top 10, Goal achieved,” she added. Simona now hopes to make a good comeback in 2023 after recovering from the surgery.
