While the latest BWF rankings will only be out on Tuesday, as per Badminton Talk, the ace Indian men’s doubles pair of Sawtiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will move to WR-2 soon. The current WR-5 pair of Satwik-Chirag had plummeted to the fifth spot after a few poor results, but will now be back in top-3 after a runners-up finish at China Masters 2023.
Satwik-Chirag Lose to World No. 1 Chinese at China Masters
After losing in the first round of the Japan Masters, the previous week, Satwik-Chirag made a terrific comeback in their last tournament of the year at China Masters. The former WR-1 pair only lost to China’s Liang WK and Wang C in the final 19-21, 21-18, 19-21. In the tournament, they got the better of other top teams as well. In the semis, Satwik-Chirag beat He JT and Ren XY 21-15, 22-20. Meanwhile, in the quarters, they won over Indonesia’s Carnado LR and Marthin D 21-16, 21-14.

Now after this performance, the Indian duo will make significant gains in the BWF points, and eventually in BWF rankings. Currently, Satwik and Chirag have 86,211 points and are in fifth position. They will now move to second with 90,761 points. Liang and Wang will continue to lead the charts with 94,391 points.
