The Indian pair entered the recently-concluded India Open as world No 2 and with 95861 points. They have now overtaken China’s Liang Wei Keng & Wang Chang to become the top-ranked pair in the world.

With two final appearances in as many tournaments so far in the 2024 season, Satwik-Chirag are off to a flying start in the calendar year. They also finished runners-up to Keng and Chang at the season-opening Malaysia Open Super 1000 earlier this month.

Satwik & Chirag took the top spot for the first time on October 10, last year, after they won the Asian Games gold medal for the first time in the history of Indian shuttlers. However, after only three weeks in office, they were replaced by China’s Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang on October 31.

Satwik-Chirag were unable to replicate their performance at the Asian Games in the French Open, and gave a walkover in the Denmark Open. They dropped to third place before moving up a spot after losing to world number one China’s Laing and Wang in the China Masters final.
