The best Indian doubles pair by a mile, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty fell four spots to World No. 5 in the latest BWF rankings updated on Tuesday. This comes after Satwik-Chirag lost in the second round of the French Open 2023 last week. They lost over 7,000 points, as they were the defending champions of the tournament, and had won the French Open 2022. Satwik-Chirag have 86,211 points as of now.
Meanwhile, China’s Lian Wei Keng and Wang Chang have consolidated their spot on top of the BWF rankings in men’s doubles. Interestingly, the top five teams in the men’s doubles, are separated by only 3,000 odd points.
As far as the other categories are concerned, there wasn’t much movement for the Indian shuttlers this week. HS Prannoy remained at WR-8 as the highest-placed Indian in singles. Lakshya Sen stayed put on the 17th, with Kidambi Srikanth on the 22nd. Similar was the case with PV Sindhu, who is still the World No. 10 player in women’s singles.
Lastly, the women’s doubles team of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand are world No. 18 in the world.
