It’s that time of the year again when the top badminton stars will be honoured for their stupendous performances throughout 2022. The BWF Player of the Year Awards will be held in China, the annual HSBC BWF World Tour Finals Gala Dinner. Out of all the categories, only Satwiksairaj Ranireddy and Chirag Shetty are in the running for the Pair of the Year Award.

Unfortunately, no other player made it to the nominations for BWF Player of the Year Awards 2023.

India’s Previous Winners
No Indian has ever won the BWF Player of the Year award but has won other accolades. Back in 2008, Saina Nehwal had won the Eddy Choong Most Promising Player Award, while PV Sindhu had won the Most Improved Player Award in 2016. Sindhu then went on to win the Best Dressed Player Award in 2018, while Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy won those awards in 2017 and 2022.
