Nagal produced a dazzling display in the first round, outplaying Kazakhstan’s Bublik to win the tie in straight sets. Nagal looked the better player on the court, as Bublik struggled against Nagal’s baseline play. The score ultimately read 6-4, 6-2, 7-6, highlighting Nagal’s dominance in the match. Nagal became the first Indian since Ramesh Krishnan at the 1989 Australian Open to beat a seeded player at a Grand Slam.
Sachin’s love for Tennis is no secret, with the cricket legend often seen in the stands during Grand Slams, cheering Federer or Nadal on. Therefore, it is not a surprise Sachin would be keenly following the Indian players in Grand Slams.
“Superb win, @nagalsumit! Proud to see you representing India on such a grand stage. Best of luck for the next round!” Sachin on Tuesday posted on X (previously Twitter).
