Rutuja Bhosale guides India to comfortable win in their Billie Jean King Cup campaign

India will take on New Zealand tomorrow (April 13) for a chance to qualify for the playoffs.

Rutuja Bhosale impressed in the singles match, conceding just four games. Going against South Korea’s Tarani Kamoe, the world No. 379 put India ahead. Rutuja romped home with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 over Sohyun Park in the 65-minute game. Meanwhile, India’s top-ranked singles player, Ankita Raina, lost to Sujeong Jang 6-2, 6-3.

India emerge victorious in the doubles game

In the doubles match, the Indian combo of Ankita Raina and Prarthana Thombare managed to defeat Dabin Kim and Sohyun Park, 6-4, 6-4, in 93 minutes. 

A challenging game awaits India as they take on New Zealand on Saturday (April 13). The top two teams in the six-team competition will get an opportunity in the playoffs. While the bottom two teams will be relegated to Group I in 2025.
