India’s Rohan Bopanna and Croatian partner Ivan Dodig celebrated their maiden victory as a team by advancing to the second round of the ATP Shanghai Masters. They secured a straight-set win against Pablo Carreno Busta and Pedro Martinez, winning the match comfortably with the scores of 6-4, 6-3 on Friday. The contest lasted 63 minutes.
Impressive performance in the opening round
The fifth-seeded Indo-Croatian duo showcased their skills by firing five aces, while their opponents failed to register any. Bopanna and Dodig converted three out of the eight break points they faced during the match. They also demonstrated resilience by saving four break points on their service games, allowing them to drop serve just once.
Early exits for Indian singles players
Unfortunately, India’s singles challenge has come to an end, as both Sumit Nagal and Ramkumar Ramanathan exited in the first round. Ramkumar reached the main draw after coming through the qualifying rounds, while Nagal gained direct entry into the tournament.
