Roger Federer’s former coach joins World No. 8 Holger Rune

In 2023, Holger Rune made it to the finals of Monte-Carlo Masters and Italian Open, but lost to Andrey Rublev and Danii Medvedev, respectively.

The World No. 8 Danish Holger Rune is a man on a mission. The French Open and Wimbledon quarterfinalist this year, Rune, after adding Boris Becker to his coaching staff, now has also hired Severin Luthi. It is worth mentioning that Luthi served as the coach of Roger Federer for a long time.

“Very happy to welcome Severin to my team alongside Boris 🤩,” Rune wrote on X. Earlier, Rune had brought Becker to his team, who also has experience of coaching Novak Djokovic.

2023 was one of Rune’s best years so far, where he managed to reach the last eight stage in two Grand Slams and also qualified for the ATP Finals for the first time. Back in 2022, he had won the Paris Masters as well.

US Open Shocker

Rune had added Becker in his team after his unexpected first-round loss at the US Open 2023, where Patrick Mouratoglou was his coach. Plus, he wanted to add another experienced name to his roster, and that is why Severin too came on board.
