Reetika Hooda lost to top seed Aiperi Medet Kyzy by 1-1 in 76 kg women's freestyle quarterfinal.

After a strong start at the Paris Olympics, Reetika Hooda lost her quarterfinal match against Aiperi Medet Kyzy of Kyrgyzstan in the 76kg wrestling match. Now, Reetika must wait for the repechage round; she will only have the opportunity to compete for bronze if Aiperi Medet Kyzy reaches the semifinals.

The match began on an aggressive note, with both wrestlers focusing on defence. For the first minute, both grapplers attempted to defend without much attacking action. The Indian, in a blue jersey, and Aiperi received passivity warnings for not being aggressive enough. Due to the passivity warning, Aiperi was given 30 seconds to attack, but she failed to do so, awarding Reetika one point as Aiperi did not make a successful attack in the first round.

In the second round, Reetika received a passivity warning, losing a point. Aiperi then tried to take control of the bout by moving around the Indians. With the passivity point awarded to Aiperi in the second round, the referee declared her the winner.
