Ahead of a new season, the 22-time Grand Slam winner has brought in Argentine Gustavo Marcaccio to his camp. Maraccio was earlier employed by the Rafa Nadal Academy. Rafael Nadal posted a picture with his new coaching team on his Instagram account on Monday, 19th December. He wrote, “Hello everyone. I want to inform you of the incorporation of Gustavo Marcaccio to the technical team. Gustavo has been working at the Rafael Nadal Academy since April 2021 and I understand that he is a good addition to the team. It will surely help us a lot to continue on the path. Welcome Gustavo!”
Gustavo Marcaccio is a former player, who was World No. 284 in the Men’s Singles. He will join hands with Carlos Moya and Marc Lopez in the Spaniard’s coaching team.
Earlier this week Nadal ended his 18-year long association with coach Francisco Roig. It was under Roig that Nadal won his first Grand Slam title in 2005. He was a constant presence in Nadal’s coaching team throughout the 18 years eventhough other members of his coaching team were replaced over the years.

He is currently preparing for the upcoming season by practicing at his academy in his hometown. On Monday, he has added a milestone to his illustrious career. He became the first Men’s Singles player in Tennis history to enter 900th successive week as a Top 10 player.
After winning the Australian Open and the French Open in 2022, he finished the year as the World No.2. His imminent challenge is to defend his Australian Open title in the upcoming season. He will soon return to the court at the United Cup that is set to begin from 29th December.
