Qatar Open HIGHLIGHTS: Andy Murray beat Alexander Zverev in a hard-fought battle to seal his place in the Quarterfinals of the Qatar Open. After winning the first set 7-6, Murray went down in the next set 2-6. However, the Brit came back strongly and after a hard fought battle won the third set 7-5 to advance to the next stage. - 5-5 to Murray, Murray makes a comeback immediately, he breaks back Zverev to level scores 5-5 in the first set.

- Alexander Zverev made his return to the tour at the start of the year after a seven-month hiatus. He was out of action since French Open 2022 as he underwent a surgery on his ankle after suffering ligament tear.
- Zverev began the year at the United Cup and lost both his matches in the group stages.
- The German was the 12th seed at the Australian Open. He won his first match since his return from the injury by defeating Juan Varillas in a five-setter.
- However he couldn’t go past the second round as he lost against Michael Mmoh in four sets.
- The 25-year old is currently ranked World No.16. He has entered the Qatar Open after a second round exit at the ATP Rotterdam.
- Andy Murray meanwhile began the year at the Adelaide International and suffered a first round exit.
- He then entered the Australian Open and impressed with his fighting abilities. He registered two hard-fought wins over Matteo Berrettini and Thanasi Kokkinakis with the matches stretching over four hours and 49 minuted and five hours and 45 minutes respectively.
- The Briton suffered a four set defeat against Roberto Bautista Agut in the third round.
- After the Australian Open, Murray then returned to the tour by playing in the Qatar Open. In the first round, he saved three match points to seal a victory
- He is now geariung up for yet another tough fight against Alexander Zverev.
Zverev vs Murray Head-to-Head: Andy Murray leads the head-to-head record between the two players. In the three matches between them, Murray has won two. They last met at the 2021 Indian Wells Masters and Zverev won the contest. The upcoming contest is expected to be a cracker as while Zverev is a higher-ranked player, he hsn’t looked in great touch, Murray meanwhile has show great fight and will be a tough nut to crack.
