But the injury has been assessed and there is nothing great to worry for the Indian shuttler. “The injury is mild, not too serious. It is nothing major, which happened. By the looks of it, we are expecting her to start her training routines by next week as well,” a highly-placed source told InsideSport.

In fact, Sindhu and her team took some time to decide about pulling out from the Worlds. They only took that call as they wanted her to take some rests and not take further risk on the injury in Tokyo.

After having being involved in the team competitions as well as the singles events, it was better off for the Indian shuttler to take some time off.

“We took that decision as the World Championship (is) starting soon, just one week or so. If Sindhu would have gone for the Worlds and played in Tokyo, the risk factor would have come into being. So, the final decision was taken to skip the competition. Nobody, including Sindhu wanted to take that risk,” added the source.

It makes sense for Sindhu not risking her injury, but it is a big miss for Sindhu. The BWF World Championships is  always regarded as an elite competition in the badminton world and Sindhu has always been amongst the medals. She has won an impressive medals, including the 2019 title.
