PV Sindhu announces launch of badminton and sports excellence centre in Vizag

PV Sindhu announces the establishment of the PV Sindhu Centre for Badminton and Sports Excellence in Vizag, aiming to nurture athletes and empower future champions across disciplines.

Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu’s much-anticipated initiative, the PV Sindhu Centre for Badminton and Sports Excellence, will soon be established in the port city of Visakhapatnam. The facility is set to focus on nurturing and empowering athletes across various sports and disciplines.

Sindhu, along with her Team PVS, expressed their gratitude to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his unwavering support.

A dream for Vizag people

“I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to build this centre for the wonderful people of Vizag. In selecting a location, I couldn’t have imagined a better place than this beautiful city. This centre will provide a home for athletes of all levels and from all disciplines, with mentors dedicated to guiding the next generation to the top,” Sindhu said in a statement.

Vision ahead for PV Sindhu

“I have always dreamed of creating a space where young athletes can truly excel, with world-class training and the necessary support to reach their full potential. This centre is not just a facility; it’s a call to action. As Indian badminton faces challenges in terms of results, I feel it’s my responsibility to lead and mentor the next generation,” she added.

Players who already own a badminton academy

There are badminton players who already own their own academy, including Pullela Gopichand and Prakash Padukone. Pullela Gopichand set up the Gopichand Badminton Academy, which has become one of the main training centres for badminton players in India. Prakash Padukone also started the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy, where young players are trained to improve their skills and reach competitive levels.

Indian great Saina Nehwal has also partnered with Hotfut Sports recently to launch the Badminton Pros Academy in Mumbai. The academy offers coaching for players of all levels, helping them improve their game.
